Amanda Dziedzic is a Melbourne-based glass artist who prides herself on creating works which, in their simplest form, bring joy and create a unique atmosphere.
In LunaTic, the upcoming destination restaurant with Scott Pickett at First Light, Amanda has crafted seven individual pieces, each with variations of tone and shade. This particular style of blown glass is called ‘yumemiru’, a Japanese word that roughly translates to ‘daydream’. This may be because when placed by a window, the light from the sun throws colours from the glass across a room to create a beautiful effect.
“The biggest influence in my work as a whole is nature,” she says when describing her work. “I think plant life is fascinating, and probably the most beautiful design out there. The patterns and colours found in plants will always inspire me.”
As well as rare commissions such as those crafted for LunaTic, Amanda’s pieces are found in select design stores in Australia and overseas.
